ITINERARY

Arrive at Los Cabos Airport (SJD) and transfer to our accommodation for check in at 2pm. You will have the afternoon to relax by the pool, set up camera equipment, and if you're not too tired after the flight, head out for a group dinner and talk about the week ahead!

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN CABO

We start each day with a buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant before heading offshore to chum for sharks.

We will spend 8 hours at sea each day varying our departure time (weather permitting) to coincide with different lighting conditions for images and videos; some days we will be on the water from 8am-4pm, other days from 11am to 7pm. While we chum for sharks, remember to keep your eyes peeled for other exciting megafauna!

Upon returning to the marina feel free to relax by the pool bar, edit photos from the day or go for an explore. In the evening, we will meet for a group dinner at one of the many restaurants walking distance away.

DAYS 2-6: FULL DAY SHARKS

Enjoy one last breakfast with the group before checking out of the hotel. Transfers are included for those of you heading to the airport.

DAY 7: THAT’S A WRAP

TARGET SPECIES

SHORT FIN MAKO AND BLUE SHARKS

The main animals we will be aiming to encounter is the short fin mako and the blue shark. Both of these species are typically very curious and will come within a few inches of you and your camera. The month of March represents the peak season for both makos and blue sharks thus our chances of encountering many sharks is extremely high. While it can take a bit of time to attract them to the boat, once they arrive, they tend to hang around for many amazing photo opportunities.

SILKY AND SMOOTH HAMMERHEAD SHARKS

Silky and smooth hammerhead sharks are not as likely as the makos and blues but do occasionally show up. With 8 hours on the water each day, it certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise if we score an encounter with one or both of these species!

The deep waters surrounding Cabo San Lucas are a wildlife photographers dream. So many different species can and do show up in the region including many different types of whales, pods of bottlenose dolphin, mobula rays and even orca just to name a few of the possibilities. While nothing is ever guaranteed in nature (and our focus is very much on pelagic sharks), if we receive reports of anything particularly exciting in the area, we will absolutely go and check it out!

OTHER GIANTS OF THE DEEP

Why travel with Wild Narrative?

  • Every single detail of our expeditions has been put in place to increase time with our target species as well as enhance the creative opportunities. From maximising our time in the water, to leaving the marina at different times each day to coincide with different lighting and animal behaviours; we are all about getting those magic shots!

  • From the moment you clear Customs at Los Cabos Airport you will be taken care of. Clear your mind of any worries regarding logistics and trust that we will get you to where you need to be!

  • Say goodbye to overcrowded boats and people getting in the way of you and your subjects. Instead, freedive and snorkel with like-minded people all focused on a similar goal.

  • Over the years we have had the opportunity to dive with a number of different operators in the region. Our partners in Cabo have a 100% safety record and consistently go the extra mile to ensure we have the best experience possible.

  • Trip leader Josh Blank will be available across the week to assist you with any questions you may have related to underwater photography or photo/video editing.
